15th Blog - Final Reflection

This was my a good class I really enjoyed the class from learning all the different types of projects that I procrasnated on, because I thought I couldn't do it at first. My favorite project that I did in this class was the group video. I enjoyed that video, because we got to act out different parts and just have fun. I actually liked doing all the projects once I started on them, because at first I thought they were gone be hard to do. Mr. Tashbin is the coolest teacher I done had since I been going to South. I wished he teached other classes so I can take him again. I learned a lot of things in this class that I will remember how to when I start teaching and maybe I can teach my own class.

14th Blog - Group Lesson Plan from Alabama Learning Exchange (ALEX)

My group and I chose to do our project on science this time . We will be doing our project on the Skeleton System. This skeleton lesson will  be very interesting, because it will teach the students about different bones that make up the body and how they can identify them when they see the bones. This lesson is for grades 3-5 and I remember I did this lesson when I was in elementary.

This should be a very fun project to do and I can't wait until we sit down more and come up with how we gone do the project. After we teach the lesson each students should be able to identify the bones. And we will have different things for them to do.

Interactve Powerpoint Blog

I think this was the hardest and frustrating project we had to do in this class. It was hard to me I watched different videos trying to see how to create an interactive PowerPoint. I wanted to create a game show like Family Feud, or Jeopardy. But it didn't turn out how I wanted it. So I created a simple game quiz PowerPoint.

The students can click on the different answers and it will either tell you if it's correct or if it is incorrect, and it will let you try again until you get the right answer.After spending hours on this project I finally found one that I can create, and at the end I kind of got a little relief when I finished. Everything was working and in place where it suppose to be. I had problems trying to add my own music in the slideshow, so I just used the music that was already on the PowerPoint.

Blog 12

I think it was very interesting for the guest speaker to come and talk to us about assistive technology. I am new to this topic and it was nice for him to share the story about his daughter having to wear hearing aids. And it is probably easier and fun for him to go speak to different people about assistive technology, because he has experienced it from his daughter. The machine he made for his daughter to learn was very neat. He passed it around and let us look at it.

Assistive Technology Video and Questions

My reaction to this video was wow. I think this was a very neat video about how to help children with disabilities to learn. I never knew about the different techniques they use  until I watched this video I  have never been in contact with an assistive technologies. I am looking forward to the guest speaker so I can learn more. I hope the guest speaker bring the techniques with them. The questions I would ask, is what made them come up with these techniques and do they really learn from them.

Lesson Plan from Alabama Learning Exchange (ALEX)

This website is really neat I never heard about it before. I like how it has different lesson plans to go with your lesson for each grade. It also tell you the activities you can do with your kids. At first when I was searching how to explore the website I got confused until I kept playing with different parts on the website. It also tell you the standards, objectives, materials, and procedures of the lesson instead of searching for it, that is easy to fill in on the standard part on your own lesson plan.

I will most likely use this when in the future, because creating lesson plans are hard. I wish I knew about this when I was at the community college, because we had to create lesson plans every week until May. It was stressful trying to come up with activities, objectives and materials. I am very helpful for having this class, because it just made teaching a little easier. I will use this website as a helpful source when I begin teaching.

Assignment 9

I had two student who made 50/100 and one student who made 100/100. For the next class I will go over nouns and pronouns more with them. Some of my students got confused with what the questions I was asking. So I will give them some practice questions for the lesson and then I will test them again on it. This will let me know if they understand it after I reteach it.

Assignment 8:Edpuzzle

I love doing the Edpuzzle assignment it was really fun to do. At first it was very confusing for me to get started on it. I played with the Edpuzzle before I picked the lesson I wanted to do. I watched the demo video how to add like the sound and questions. It took me a little minute to find the right lesson to do, because some of the videos were in different languages.

After I picked my video I didn't know what questions I wanted to ask. Finally I got everything in order and right. This is something I will use a lot to teach my students in the future. I also love how you can create a multiple choice little test or the students to answer. And also I like how you can grade the students and leave comments.

I enjoyed the group video assignment, we had our own different roles to play. It really took me back to when I was in high school. Before the video was made, we didn’t have a script. But when we shot the video we just went along with a script and we didn’t even have to write it down. Even though we had to keep doing some scenes over the video turned out to be a good video.

Our video was based on a popular problem in school districts today. Common Core is a night mare to the kids, because it is forcing them to learn on a faster pace. I learned that if you ask questions and get help you will do good. I learned that Common Core will teach a lesson then move on even if other students don’t understand. Common Core is the reason some kids lack in the education system.

A Vision of Students Today Blog

I learned that students feel like they are learning things that don’t matter. How will it benefit them in their future life? It is hard to really focus in class, because us college students bring our laptops, iPad, tablets, and etc. to class. And when we bring our electronics to class, we either be shopping, on social media or playing games. Because we get bored when the teacher is teaching about something that’s not going to help us in the future.

Everything that they showed in the video is characteristics of all students that are in school even grade school students. All college students feel like it is pointless to go to school and not get the correct lesson they supposed to get. And they also feel like they also feel like they just wasting their money on school. It made me realize that we really take classes that don’t have anything to do with our major like we taking pointless classes that we will not have to use in the future.

I enjoyed the video presentation that Mr. Dave came and talked to us about. It really taught me a lot, because he showed from how to use different lighting, and tools. When I do my videos they be bad lighting, and the sound be horrible. And I also be nervous when I do my videos, even thought its just me shooting in a room by myself. I learned a lot of new things from the presentation, and I can't wait to try the new things I learned. And I also can't wait to take pictures using the tools I learned. This make me want to buy one of them high price cameras and take pictures of people.

4th Blog:Let's use video to reinvent education

 I learned how he started making YouTube videos for his cousins and other people started looking at his videos. Different people was writing him thanking him for starting making videos. Parents said that it was helping their kids with their work they didn’t understand. Even teachers were writing him asking can he make videos for their lessons. He also does a similar thing at the Khan Academy like they do at school when you teach a lesson for a week then you move on to something else. Even if the students don’t understand the previous lesson.

     I think it is a good thing to use video in education, because people learn in different ways. And especially if they are at home they can rewind, pause, or stop the video when they get ready. This can help me as a future teacher to maybe let my students watch some of his videos when we get to the lesson, and see if that will help them understand the lessons better.  I think his ideas was a good thing to do and it really help a lot of people. I always watch YouTube videos when I need help on doing something.

3rd Blog - The process of creating the Free App Trailer

At first I was procrasnating on doing the app trailer, because I said it was gone be so hard to do. I didn't know what app to do I didn't even know which where to start. So when I got what app I was going to do I went on YouTube and watched other people app trailers. I actually watched the tutorial videos and they helped me too. It was very frustrating at first, because I couldn't get my slides to cooperate.

After I finished the video I learned a lot about making videos with music and how people be doing make up and hair tutorials on the internet. This project was very helpful for me, because one day I might do a tutorial video on something I want to share with other people. I also will use what I learned from this  project with my future students to help them when they want to make a video. This project was very fun to do.

Do school kill creativity?

If you not prepared to be wrong, you will never come up with anything. Children are scared to be wrong. I learned that education people are out of the out of their creativity capacity. They said that all children are born artist. We grow into creativity we grow out of it. I also learned that there is no public system for education.

 I think that school is killing creativity because of the challenges that the schools have to face now. The reason is, because they are making the students take all of these test like the standardized test. The test will determine if the students can move to the next grade or how well they know their work. And some of the children are failing to learn, because they are not ready to be on a certain level.  And that’s the main reason why children are dropping out of school, because they not passing these test. Especially in the state where I am from. This can help me want to be motivated to teach each and every one of my students so they can be ready and they won’t have to feel like they can’t do it.

Reimagining Technology

I learned that technology is trying to replace everything like books, chalk boards, and other learning supplies. Also you must treat all students the same in your class no matter how they learn or what learning problem they got. I also learned about how the teachers teach the lesson of the week longer than they supposed to. I use to hate when one of my teachers would teach us something then the next two days move on to a new lesson. I use to be still stuck on the first lesson so when we get on the new lesson I be so behind, because I’m still trying to learn the first one.

 

It makes communication and education so much easier and a better way to learn. Just like with online classes, it’s so much easier for people. Some people are better learning from the computer than sitting in a class. Technology in education will help the kids with their future careers which will help them how to use technology very well. Technology also is good in education, because the student will want to learn better on technology, because they are always on it when they are at home.

 

Technology can help me each my students or challenge them on different lessons, by doing assignments that will test them on what they know. Also it will keep them interested into wanting to learn.  I will use technology in my lessons.
